Job Title: Boat Deckhand

The Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority (MIMRA) is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join its team. We are looking for one (1) Boat Deckhand. 


Purpose: The Primary responsibilities of the Boat Deckhand includes keeping vessels clean; scrubbing decks and keeping interior of vessel (Captain's wheel house, cabin, kitchen, bathroom, cargo and fish hold) clean and organized at all time. Must maintain outer structure of vessel; sanding, painting, and fiberglass repair. Must inspect and scrape clean vessel hull (Bottom of vessel) every month to ensure safe and efficient seafaring. At ports or site destinations shall be responsible for tying up or casting off lines holding vessel in place or lowering and raising anchors. The Deckhand must be ready at any given time to perform repair and to assist vessel engineer troubleshoot any problems that arise while during voyages. Deckhands in general learn about navigation, safety, and environmental and government regulations.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:
● Perform the day-to-day duties of a Master Mariner/Captain to ensure a safe and efficient operation of OIFMC Transport vessels.
● Handles lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to other vessels, or rigs towing lines.
● Splices and repairs cables and ropes, using hand tools. Examines cables that holds vessels in tow and tightens cables to ensure vessels are snug.


Education/Experiences:
● The incumbent would normally attain the required knowledge and skills through a certain number of years of seagoing experience and must pass the written test administered by the Ministry of Transportation. Equivalencies will be considered.
● Far vision - The ability to see details at a distance.
● Time sharing - The ability to shift back and fourth between two or more activities or sources of information.

Job Title: Boat Engineer

The Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority (MIMRA) is looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to join its team. We are looking for one (1) Boat Engineer. 


Purpose: A Transport Vessel Engineer is responsible for operating and maintaining propulsion engines, generators, pumps, and other machinery on board transport vessel. Engineers are required to stand watch for specified periods overseeing the safe operation of engines and machinery when vessel is in operation.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:
● Perform the day-to-day duties of a Master Mariner/Captain to ensure a safe and efficient operation of OIFMC Transport vessels.
● Fabricate engine replacement parts such as valves, stay rods, and bolts using metal working machinery.
● Maintain and repair engines, electric motors, pumps, winches and other mechanical and electrical equipment, or assist other crew members with maintenance and repair duties.


Education/Experiences:
● Basic Education: HS Diploma or GED and College - Degree in marine transportation, marine engineering or nautical science can help
● Specialized training in diesel engines, electrical systems, refrigeration, and safety procedures.
● Marine Engineer Officer License

The Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Project for Pacific Regional Oceanscape Program for Economic Resilience (PROPER) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

The consulting services (“the Services”) include provision of MIMRA Legal Officer services for the implementation of the Project for Pacific Regional Oceanscape Program for Economic Resilience (PROPER). The Legal Officer (LO) will liaise and work with the Legal Counsel and other MIMRA staff with a particular focus on legal drafting aspects of the Project. The LO will assist legal drafting and suggest amendments of relevant national laws under Title 51 of the Marshall Islands Revised Code and other essential legal services for the 
Oceanic and Industrial Affairs Division and Coastal Fisheries Division.

This Consulting assignment is a Full-time position to be located in Majuro, RMI and is expected to start as soon as possible. The duration will be for 24 months subject to extension. The detailed scope of services is indicated in the Terms of Reference (TOR) that can be found below in Annex 1.

MIMRA now invites eligible individuals (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services (attach curriculum vitae with description of experience in similar assignments, similar conditions, 
etc. including a Cover Letter of no more than three (3) pages addressing individually the mandatory and desirable experience and qualification requirements of the position). Firms’ staff may express interest through the employing firm for the assignment and, under such situation, only the experience and qualifications of individuals shall be considered in the selection process. The criteria for selecting the Consultant are as specified in the TOR under the Mandatory Qualifications and Experience.

Purpose: The Boat Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of Outer Island Fish Market Center (OIFMC) transport vessels, including crew management, navigation, fish collection operations, passenger and cargo operations and ensuring that the vessel is compliance with operation policies, national marine regulations as well as Local Government ordinances. 

Position Responsibilities/Duties:
● Perform the day-to-day duties of a Master Mariner/Captain to ensure a safe and efficient operation of OIFMC Transport vessels.
● Communicating with Site managers and Majuro/Ebeye base - Providing information to managers, co-workers and crew by radio or in person in regards to fishing conditions, catch rate etc.
● Safely maneuvering, navigating or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, crane truck, and transport vessels.


Education/Experiences:
● Basic Education: HS Diploma or GED and College - Degree in marine transportations, marine engineering or nautical science can help
● Maritime Training * Licensing: GRT Valid for next 3-5 years
● Must possess a valid driver’s license
