Position Location: MIMRA Delap, Majuro Atoll

Duration: Two-year contract with a 6-month probationary period, with the possibility of extension subject to performance evaluation. 

Purpose: MIMRA is seeking a highly professional Special Assistant to provide high-level research, data management, and public relations support to the Minister of Natural Resources and Commerce. This role is vital for assisting the Minister in policy formulation, legislative responsibilities, and coordinating with key agencies including MIMRA, Tobolar, and OCIT.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Research & Data Management: Provide data and research to support the Minister’s legislative duties and policy recommendations to the Cabinet.

  • Public Relations: Manage communications, public relations support, and archiving for the Office of the Minister.

  • Grants Assistance: Identify and assist in applying for grants that provide financial capacity for projects within the Minister’s portfolio.

  • Strategic Advice: Provide high-quality advice on information needs and economic/business outlooks.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a functional link between the Minister’s office and other government departments and State-Owned Enterprises.

  • Education & Experience

  • A BSc degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related discipline is essential..

  • Or at least three (3) years of experience in a relevant position of information and public administration.

  • Skills:

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, scheduling, and organizational expertise.

  • Fluent in both English and Marshallese (oral and written).

  • High level of initiative, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain the highest degree of ethics and transparency.

Purpose: MIMRA is seeking a highly organized Procurement & Compliance Officer to oversee the acquisition of goods, works, and services. This dual-purpose role ensures all spending aligns with RMI laws and donor regulations while managing vital land lease negotiations and documentation for MIMRA’s regional fish bases.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Procurement: Ensure all departmental spending follows the RMI Procurement Act and donor-specific regulations.
  • Compliance: Coordinate with landowners regarding lease payments and manage a centralized database of active leases.
  • Financial Support: Assist with budget preparation, asset tagging, and preparing for annual audits.
  • Education & Experience
  • A BSc degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Or at least three (3) years of relevant professional experience 

Skills

  • Role-Specific Experience: Previous work experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer, or a similar professional role.
  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and Advanced MS Excel, specifically for creating spreadsheets and using financial functions.

Position Location: MIMRA Laboratory, Delap, Majuro Atoll

Purpose: To manage the development and operation of the National Marine Environmental Laboratory (covering Chemical, Microbiology, and Radiation sub-laboratories) to ensure the safety of RMI's fisheries resources.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Lead and/or contribute to national and regional projects undertaken by MIMRA.
  • Ensure all required information and support from the Laboratory is available and used for implementing projects.
  • Report directly to the Executive Director.
  • Demonstrate excellence in staff management (supervision, performance management, capacity development, conflict resolution).
  • Possess well-developed skills in policy formulation, planning, and implementation.
  • Maintain the ability to multi-task with strong time and stress management skills.
  • Comfortable working with diverse people in international, regional, and community settings.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, honesty, and integrity.

Education/Experiences: 

  • Must have a degree from a recognized college or university in environmental science/management or a related field.
  • Must have demonstrated experience as a manager.
  • Must have at least 5 years' experience in fisheries or a related field.

Skill: 

  • Excellent understanding of public sector management, including budget management and reporting.
  • Excellent skills in leadership and organization for effectiveness.
  • Knowledgeable on the regulatory environment of MIMRA (MIMRA Act, regulations, etc.).
  • Must have excellent communication skills (writing, public speaking).
  • Must be able to speak English and Marshallese, with good written English., as well as formulation and implementation of policies, plans and procedures

Purpose: Purpose: MIMRA is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment for our visitors and employees. The successful candidate will be responsible for patrolling and monitoring the MIMRA premises, personnel, and equipment in the Delap area.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Surveillance & Patrol: Secure premises by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and inspecting access points.
  • Emergency Response: Assist the "Main-In-Charge"; with safety drills and request assistance from National/Local Police when reporting incidents.
  • Loss Prevention: Prevent damage and loss by reporting irregularities, restraining trespassers, and enforcing policy.
  • Traffic Control: Direct drivers and manage traffic within the MIMRA Delap area.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the operation of assigned equipment (Radios, Batons, etc.) by following preventive maintenance requirements.

Education/Experiences: 

  • High School Graduate (College graduate or specialized security certification preferred.)

Skill: 

  • Excellent Proficiency in English and Marshallese; ability to operate surveillance equipment; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Attributes: High level of integrity, professional demeanor, and ability to work independently

  • Analyze and report test results
  • Work for extended periods while sitting or standing

Education/Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025 standards
  • Prior laboratory experience
  • Proficiency in both English and Marshallese
